Stephen Ministry is a pastoral program designed to provide Christ-centered, high-quality, and confidential care for those in our parish who are struggling with a difficult time in life.
Stephen Ministers meet one-on-one with their care receivers once a week to listen to, support and pray (as requested) with them as they cope with a variety of life-challenging situations, such as:
OLQP has a corps of trained Stephen Ministers available for those in the parish who would benefit from a Christian caregiving relationship. Stephen Ministers do not offer any kind of professional services (financial, mental health or the like), but they offer compassionate care during their care receivers' period of struggle.
Stephen Ministries was founded in 1975 and has been active in almost 11,000 faith communities throughout the U.S. Father Tim started the program at OLQP based on the very positive contribution it made in a parish where he previously served.
